Oil Pastels, Portrait

Crossing

Crossing people with animals is commonly done, but you can make it a little bit different by adding a complimentary color scheme (using opposite colors. Ex: Yellow and Purple, Red and Green, and Blue and Orange). JUST AS WARNING trying to do shades of yellow is REALLY DIFFICULT if doing it with only basic colors (gold, yellow, pale, ect). This is a pic of my best friend when she came out mixed with a bunny (the eyes) and a snow tiger (skin and hair). I thought it turned out pretty well but the teacher said I turned something professional into something kiddish by adding hearts.. I meant is as a texture and I was really just making it for my best friend (even though I have yet to send it to her and it’s been about a year.. XD ). I thought that it looked better than just making one corner darker than the rest and blending it in but that’s just my opinion. Try mixing peoples personalities with their animals. My Best friend is cute but fierce when she needs to be so that’s why I chose the bunny and the snow tiger.

Thank you #9

YET AGAIN we have made a new high record of visitors and views! A total of 32 vies and 29 visitors! 1 view more and 5 visitors more! That’s so awesome! I NEVER would have thought it’d get this big! But that’s not what this post is about! This post is to thank you guys for choosing my blog to look at over others and taking the time out of your day to look at what I have to share! So THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH maxgor, tickledtk, The Secret Kingdom, Paula and arriacross for not only telling me what it is that you like but just having known that you came to my blog is awesome. And I do realize those who have come here often and those who had just liked one of my artworks for the first time. Thank you tickledtk and maxgor. I know both of you have been looking at my blog recently and have been liking a bunch of my stuff. And there’s others too! Like paulawalkerbaker, sweepy62, yawn, and ~Aisling! It means SO MUCH to me when I see that people come back to see my art and that there are new people to see what I have to offer! I can’t wait to finish up this artwork I have been working on; it’s just been a bit busy trying to get stuff in and the toll its having on my skin (constantly putting lotion on. Cold whether + art project that takes moisture out of your hands = not fun. UNLESS you have something great at the end of the journey). I hope you guys like it (and the guys at school) because it has taken my patience with all the lack of faith that one of my friends has in me. He should have known not to tell me that I couldn’t do something artistic.

* Side Note: This is my first ever true still life. And my firs time with shading of paint oil pastels.
