In Memory Of My Grandpa

I made this for my grandpa a couple years ago when he was diagnosed with cancer. He was a man who loved to fish and I wanted to make him something to remind him of that to keep his mind a little bit off the pain. I’ll admit that its not the best picture ever.. but even so, it still means a lot for it to be there to remember him.

*Side Note* Sorry that it is blurry. Camera was throwing a fit. I swear, its like I have a child.

Explanation For Pic And Advice For The People Who Will Be Forever Ill

Ok, I did this in 7th grade and I know what your thinking by the words. No, I am not trying to say that if you make yourself suffer that good things come from it. I had just made this after getting out of my second brain surgery (hence the reason I’m wearing a hat in the artwork). I was trying to say that even though there might be suffering people, after all is said and done, to always look at the positive side because every action and event has at least one good thing. After having my first surgery, it opened my eyes on just how many kids are in the hospital. It also made me more mature and learn how to deal with more serious things. I have been on a trip to Hawaii thanks to Make-A-Wish (if you know someone who has an illness that could last forever, in my case Hydrocephalus and a brain tumor that I will never know what it is, then please please please look into Make-A-Wish.) and now I help out however I can, when ever I can. It’s not much though. I never seem to find a whole lot of stuff that donates to Make-A-Wish.

Unrealistic Colors

So obviously, this portrait that I made of my friend is not realistic in color. At least I’d like to think that he doesn’t have purple skin and red-purple hair. Doing stuff that is unordinary is rarely ever looked down on in the art industry. But, I am definitely not the first person to ever do this. I find it easier to do unrealistic colors because you don’t have to worry about if the skin color makes them look sick or like a peach.

Something Personal

One thing I notice in people is that sometimes they start something but never finish it. Well one thing I find that helps me is making something a little more personal to you. For me, that’s Disney. So I took an assignment from school and put me inside of it instead of just some random image. If it means something to you, then you’ll want to make it look really nice too. Well.. I messed up a little bit on the sun rays.. I had to mix in some acrylic gloss to the paint of my choice and didn’t put enough gloss in it to make it transparent.. So I had to take some water and take off some of the paint to make it more see-through. ALMOST any mistake, when it comes to painting, can be fixed. Just have to be creative on how to fix it. 😉

*Side Note* Disney is where my boyfriend asked me to be his girlfriend. He made me wait almost an entire month for us to get together. He wanted to make him asking special and now it has almost been a year since then. I hope there are many more years to come. ❤

Thank you #9

YET AGAIN we have made a new high record of visitors and views! A total of 32 vies and 29 visitors! 1 view more and 5 visitors more! That’s so awesome! I NEVER would have thought it’d get this big! But that’s not what this post is about! This post is to thank you guys for choosing my blog to look at over others and taking the time out of your day to look at what I have to share! So THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH maxgor, tickledtk, The Secret Kingdom, Paula and arriacross for not only telling me what it is that you like but just having known that you came to my blog is awesome. And I do realize those who have come here often and those who had just liked one of my artworks for the first time. Thank you tickledtk and maxgor. I know both of you have been looking at my blog recently and have been liking a bunch of my stuff. And there’s others too! Like paulawalkerbaker, sweepy62, yawn, and ~Aisling! It means SO MUCH to me when I see that people come back to see my art and that there are new people to see what I have to offer! I can’t wait to finish up this artwork I have been working on; it’s just been a bit busy trying to get stuff in and the toll its having on my skin (constantly putting lotion on. Cold whether + art project that takes moisture out of your hands = not fun. UNLESS you have something great at the end of the journey). I hope you guys like it (and the guys at school) because it has taken my patience with all the lack of faith that one of my friends has in me. He should have known not to tell me that I couldn’t do something artistic.

* Side Note: This is my first ever true still life. And my firs time with shading of paint oil pastels.

Unique ideas from simple forms

This is a unique idea I thought of while at home, trying to make something that would be great for my application to get into art gifted and talented at school. I got a couple Styrofoam heads from my mom and wanted to do something with them. I went searching for inspiration on what to do and took two things I liked. A wire sculpture, and paper mache. I tried the wire sculpture and failed miserably at it due to the type of wire I had to work with. So, next best thing was paper mache. I made the head and painted it white but it was too plain. so I went online and searched up photos of styles and patterns and came up with this.

What I’m trying to prove here, is that sometimes in art, if you like two things then put it together. And if something doesn’t work then learn why and try fixing it. I would have done something with the wire with this but I don’t have enough to do anything that would look nice. If I did, I would make the other half of the face, the white half, have red, thin wire spiraling in and out of it. I’m afraid I cannot do anything more due to the fragile state it is in right now.

I have one more picture of this very idea that I am talking about but I can only post one pic at a time. So that’ll have to wait for another day.

PS. Sorry for a bad picture graphic, I have a better, sleeker picture of this artwork but sadly it is on the other computer. So I had to make do with what I had.
